Preparations

I was very sick the weekend before school, so we really didn't get to do a TON of preparing. Luckily, John took on the bulk of it and took them school shopping a the MALL (all three kids by himself) and did a grand job. All kids came home alive and no one was crying!

So, I got to do the fun stuff. I took Jacee to get her nails painted at our local salon. This is something we use to do quite frequently - but now only once in a while. I thought Maddie would be into it too - but no go. She was content to sit and watch.

Here she is - she got turquoise nail polish with a white flower with pink accents. Way cute!

And Jack has discovered that he actually does like getting his hair cut! We took him to Cookie Cutters and he is in hog heaven. He chose to watch Scooby Doo and sit on the motorcycle. Good times. We went pretty short - you'll see in his first day pick. Can't believe my guy is going to be in kindergarten!

Well...bring on the new school year - my kids are ready even if I'm not!

Musings

Most days I love being a mother. I don't mind the constant clean up when compared to my children's laughter while playing. I don't mind the laundry and dishes when I hear my children working together to help each other. I don't mind the cooking and slave-like conditions when my children hug and kiss me and tell me they love me.

But once in a while I am really tired, so the kids get to take tubbies right when we get home from the pool and have a pj dinner and then straight off to bed.

Ahhh, sometimes mommies just need the night off.

But I'm so glad I'm a mommy.

Bricki 2010

So, I'm not very good at this. It was suppose to create this cute little slideshow - but as you can see I have done it incorrectly. If you want to look at all the pics - click on this one and they will all pop up. Had a ton of fun at the Bricki! Love you all!

Remember?

Remember eating the "bowl" of watermelon in the summer? We had seven kids in our family, so you only go it once in a while - but when you did - HEAVEN!

Where do we learn such wonders? Sometimes I expect my kids to just know all the little wonders of life and then realize I have to teach them. I recently taught Maddie the wonder of eating from the "bowl" of the watermelon. And if you will notice, I also taught her the wonder of eating the yummy, delicious, juicy heart of the watermelon very first so it gets it's just due of being so yummy and not accidentally missed while scooping out other pieces.

I love summer and I love helping my kids enjoy the small things in life.
