My Dad is Here!

My dad is here for the weekend - hooray for us! Just gives us a little treat of what it will be like when they are home for good in two weeks.

So far he has...gone to a play where "Martha Washington" was a star...

been to preschool where his son got to teach his grandson about eyes...

and watched some very talented grandchildren do the swing and chacha. So far so good! We do miss you mom - can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!

One Great Day

After reading about my poor pathetic life from the last post, I better tell you about one great day I did have amidst all this chaos...my birthday!

It just so happened it was a slow week for John at work so he could take the day off - and he did! We started with the traditional donutes and chocolate milk - but this year I got them in bed (and they were from the Lehi Bakery so I would have eaten them in a ditch). And John even got me the "slimy" chocolate milk - as he calls it. Jacee and I call it the BEST chocolate milk.

He helped Jacee get ready for school and then drove her there. He proceeded to call Aunt Kathy to take Jackson and Maddie so we could go on a little shopping spree without children. I got a few shirts, some jewelry and some un-mentionables and then it was Cafe Rio - my fav!

At home he continued to be doting and tried to keep the kids out of my hair. It was just a nice fun relaxing day at home. Not a bad way to spend the first day of my last year being in my 30s.

Thanks honey - it was a great day that I really needed. You are the best! Love you.

It has just been a hard three weeks. I am paddling upstream - without a paddle. I am tired, I am grouchy, my house is a mess, my kids are off kilter, and I'm pretty much useless, and Maddie just walked in with a ziplock back of cheese - don't ask me how she got the ziplock bag and at this point I don't even care.

Recently, the home we were living in sold (which we knew it was for sale - so not really out of the blue) and we had to move within a matter of days. This all was happening as we were driving to Idaho for Rachel's funeral. So, I had spent some time with my friend at Primary Children's Hospital, I had planned a had a HUGE combined activity for YM/YW, drove to Idaho, packed up the house, moved, still fulfilled my calling in YW, organized and had a Valentine's party for Jacee (I'm the room mom), still tried to unpack, went to Idaho to put some things in order for my parent's arrival in March, still tried to fulfill my calling, still tried to unpack...notice in this paragraph there is nothing about trying to be a good mother and wife.

Is it time to leave for Disneyland yet? The kids and I need a vacation from this life!!!

Sad Day

I just went to post on my blog - went to browse for pictures and alas...they are gone. I do have backups from 2007 and before but not since then. We did back up everything on an external drive - but that seems to have malfunctioned as well...hmmm...very inconvenient but not the end of the world.

She's Gone to Heaven

Fred, Emy & Family

My friend Emy's little girl has gone to heaven. My daughter Jacee said, "I think that's good. She'll be happy and she can run around and play now."

Rachel was in the hospital for 12 days - this time. And it was time to let her go. I can't imagine how hard it was for them to make. They have a firm belief in the gospel and know that Rachel is with her older sister and triplet brother now. It is so hard for us here, but she really is in a heavenly place.

We love you Darrington family and are saying many prayers that you will be comforted.

Love you.
