Babysitting Dilemma

So...what do you pay a babysitter? I can never get a babysitter to actually answer that question. We have finally found an AWESOME baby sitter - she is our neighbor, she actually plays with the kids, and we LOVE her! It is so nice to know your kids are being taken care of when you can't be with them, or just need some one-on-one time with your hubby. So, what is the going rate?

And of course, who can resist these darling faces (ok, you can't see Jack's - but pretty cute!) I almost think they should pay me to let them be with my angels! (This is us caroling on Christmas Eve - thanks Sayda for the picture - of course you have to be a true blogger at heart to take pictures of your carolers!)

we always pay 5 dollars and it goes up from there. I am cheap when it comes to paying the sitter. I have never paid over 25.
Love the hats and when singing eyes are not required!

We do $2 per child per hour. But I think that is a premium - we have an over-abundance of young families and not very many "good" babysitters, so the rates are pretty high around here. It gets very pricey very fast when we try to do a date night!! (Needless to say, we don't get out much!).

I always paid $20.00 for 2-3 hours. That was for Anson and Aubrey. Most of the time my older kids did it for us. I know when my older kids did it, when they were 12, 13 and 14.... they would always come home and complain that people in Burley were so cheap.
I'll do it for free my friend when you need a date night.

I always wonder this to. I don't want to be cheap but I don't want to over pay because then they expect it every time. Someone once told me they paid $2.oo per child each hour. So I kind of go by that. Love the picture!

In good ol' cheap Clearfield I pay $1.50 per child per hour, and less for my 10 year old. I figure he doesn't need as much "babysitting." However, my sister used to make $5.50 per child per hour in Las Vegas and that was over 10 years ago!!! I can't imagine what they would charge now.

I hate deciding what to pay as well. I love the babysitting swap. You tend my kids I'll tend yours. Good luck!

Sounds like it is a bit more expensive back here...we pay $8/hr for 3...and then round up to the nearest $5...like $20, $25...
